Coffee with a Conductor

Sunday, September 26 at 2:00 p.m.

As part of Les Journées de la Culture, this program is a rare opportunity to find out everything you always wanted to know about what a conductor does and how an orchestra prepares for a concert. This interactive session will include a discussion by Maestro Joseph Milo, music director and conductor of the Musicians of the World Symphony Orchestra. He will discuss the function of the orchestra as it plays symphonic music, choral, opera, ballet etc., the conductor’s score, and the intricacies of the gestures in conducting. There will be an opportunity for volunteers to conduct an ensemble (extracted from the MWSO) following a “crash course” in conducting.

In addition, there will be a mini concert presentation by the ensemble. This session promises to be an enlightening and exciting experience.
