Space and Time
Rick Leong

November 24, 2011 to January 8, 2012

Rick Leong

The exhibit is a poetic exploration of cosmic phenomena and constellations. A third generation Chinese-Canadian, Rick explores Eastern and Western painting traditions. He uses ink as a medium to depict his beautiful and delicate large-scale landscapes.

“My interest in representing the unknown, and even the unknowable in a psychological, metaphorical, and literal way began with the use of mist, or negative space in classical Chinese landscapes,” said Leong.

Rick Leong obtained his BFA (with honours) from the University of Victoria and his MFA from Concordia University in 2007. His work has been exhibited widely across Canada in numerous group and solo shows, and can be found in private and corporate collections including the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and the Canada Council Art Bank. His current art projects can be viewed at www.rickleong.com.

The paintings in this exhibit were kindly loaned to the library by the Parisian Laundry gallery.
