Tarot de Montréal is a traveling exhibit curated by Marie-Claude Bouthillier. Twenty-two Quebec artists contributed to this exhibition with the aim of recreating a new version of the Major Arcana (the 22 picture cards of the Tarot de Marseilles). The participating artists are: Éric Simon, Ève K Tremblay, Yan Giguère, Mathieu Beauséjour, BenoÎt Bourdeau, Andrea Szilasi, Pierre Gauvin, Sophie Jodoin, Yann Pocreau, Claudia Bernai, Cynthia Girard, Stéphanie Béliveau, Patrice Fortier, Marie-Claude Pratte, Max Wyse, Sonia Haberstich, Louise Mercille, Emmanuelle Léonard, David Lafrance, Sylvie Bouchard, Nancy Belzile and Kim Waldron. The collaborative project allows each of the artists to interpret one of the Tarot cards in their individual styles. A number of moods are conveyed through the imagery of these re-invented cards; at once whimsical, intriguing and humorous. The mixed media exhibition provides the viewers with a unique opportunity to visualize the artistic process by showing both the original Tarot cards and the re-interpreted versions. Marie-Claude Bouthillier‘s work has been exhibited in Quebec and abroad in solo and group exhibitions. Her work has been featured at The Museum of Contemporary Art of Montreal and the National Museum of Fine Arts of Quebec. She lives and works in Montreal and holds a Master of Fine Arts from the Université du Québec à Montréal. Her current art projects can be viewed at www.marieclaudebouthillier.org.
